Indian officials confirmed on Friday that they requested a postponement for the event, originally scheduled for October this year, from the Commonwealth Shooting Federation (CSF) as the venue would not be ready in time.
"We had no option but to ask for fresh dates," Baljit Singh Sethi, secretary general of the National Rifle Association of India, told Reuters."We are happy that the CSF has accepted our request."
The competition will now be held from Feb. 20-28 next year, Sethi added.Commonwealth Games organisers are under pressure because of delays in several projects for the multi-sports event, which will begin in October 2010.
